Tamar Bordwin
Tamar Bordwin is an artist living and working in Brooklyn, New York. She works primarily in oil paint, using it to bring the forests and fields of her imagination up into the visual world. In her work, she blends realism and abstraction, portrait and landscape, whimsy and solemnity. She is currently working on a series of paintings stretched on custom-built hide-tanning frames in which she examines the place of ancient handcraft in the drastically human-altered world of the present. Living in a city and maintaining a deep affinity for wild and rural places, she is using this project to preserve her connection to the natural world and the primitive skills that allowed humans to survive within it.
She accepts requests for commissioned work.
