Welcome to Rat Mag
Rats know New York City better than anyone. They live in the walls, scurry along the train tracks, and scamper across your feet when you least expect it. In the urban landscape, they adapt, scavenging and building networks beneath the surface.
When you think about it, they’re not all that different from the artists who call New York home; the artists who continue painting, writing, filmmaking, creating and organizing despite - or, occasionally, in spite of - the rat race happening around them. Just out of sight, they are building entire worlds.
Dumpster Rat Magazine was born from a desire to bring those artists into the light and center the people who make New York feel alive.
I hope this platform creates opportunities for creators to find each other, learn from each other, and build something together.
With open arms, you are invited to submit your essays, photo series, claymation shorts, and any creative projects you may find yourself wanting to share with the world. It is the artists (and rats) among us who will truly bring this magazine to life.
Without further ado… Welcome to Rat Mag. Let’s go dumpster diving!
